Moving Forward Supported Lodgings is a small organisation offering 24 hour supported accommodation to vulnerable adults.
We pride ourselves on being able to create support packages to tailor a service users personal needs and offer accommodation that will aid an individual to work towards independent living or sustain their own tenancy with us without having to live alone.
Support packages are varied and they are created based on the service users needs which are identified through the assessment process. Variations can include intense support where an individual would need someone to support them 24 hours a day and with every aspect of day to day activities. There are less intense packages which would mean an individual is semi independent and would only need a support worker around for things such as appointments and ensuring they’re home safely each night. Staff are on site 24 hours a day and carry out sleeping night shifts. However we do not offer care packages. This is a service that could be bought in from an external agency.
The accommodation we offer is a semi detached three bedroom house in a quiet residential area of Middleton. It’s a Morden property with a large back garden and a gym in the conservatory. This is to promote healthy living with our services users who struggle going out in public
Places. Accommodation is shared but each service user will have their own room which is locked and they hold the key to. They will also hold their own tenancy for this room. Service users will share the kitchen bathroom and living spaces.
To enable us to tailor our services as best we can we are funded by service users Personal Budgets. This also allows us to work outside our local authority and to place some of the most complex service users. It also allows us to offer a more intimate service which helps service users build on positive friendships/ relationships
Funding for the accommodation is sourced via housing benefit which is something we would support them with allowing them to learn the process with help at hand.
The application process is simple. Individuals can self refer or can be referred from a professional. This is done by contacting us to request an application form.
Once the form is received a member of a support team will make contact to arrange a pre assessment. This could be done over the phone or face to face.
